Have actually considered putting “Raze the Effigy” in its place, but obviously combat tricks are a lot riskier to gain value off of. I’ll discuss it a bit though.Ĭan help against chariot, anvil, or any other troubling artifacts. I’d be interested in discussing the merits of cards with you all. I’ll admit – this sideboard could likely use a LOT of work. Often there is some target that you can use this on, its instant speed, and we have a bunch of ways to make use of its 2nd clause that gives us the reach option – rabbit battery, adversary, counters from Kumano/Raiju/Shatterskull - the extra damage really helps. This used to be roil eruption, however I’ve found this card a bit better suited for this deck. I typically always add in the 2nd copy post-board.

Haste, reach, menace and the ability to pick off chump blockers. I like having the 2 in for game one, but will sometimes go down to 1 copy post-board, especially on the draw.Īnother one of our big threats that has solid closing power in the late game. The reach/counters it gives makes this card key to closing out close games.Īnother solid haste threat that buffs your less powerful threats. Haste, counters, and reach – the card is a powerhouse. Can buff other creatures instead of itself if you want to entice the opponent to trade for your 1 or 2 drop instead of your 3-mana creature.Īnother card I’m surprised we’re not seeing more of. Solid for a one of.Īt this point this card needs no introduction. The weakest of our 3 drops, however its necessary as this deck is a little light in the 3-drop department, and there are a few ways to use his boast ability to make favorable attacks. Remove them against decks that aim to play and stay on the board. Keep it in against any deck aiming to possibly sweep you. Also, if you happened to play Kumano on turn 2, then the 2nd chapter gives it a counter and allows it to stay on board. Against meathook, it allows you to push damage without overly committing to the board. This card has performed amazingly as a 2 of. The fact that it, paired with Kumano, can pressure as a 4/2 against slower decks is very relevant as well. Securing 3 damage, drawing a card, and ramping with a treasure all works out nicely for this deck. Second, it fills in as a very serviceable 3-mana play, which our deck is light on. First, if it’s removed by the opponent, it ramps us faster into our 4 and 5 mana threats. It has been a good fit for a couple of reasons. Great 2 drop haste-r that at times gets even more value due to its ability bringing back removal/burn damage. Paired with Creepy Puppeteer you can swing in with 8 damage out of nowhere in a variety of situations. You can use it to get in chip damage at the start, go wide, and it plays around Meathook in a variety of ways due to giving a creature an extra point of toughness and remaining on board if that creature is removed/swept. Our best one drop and makes for very explosive starts.Īnother very good card when you’re up against slower opponents (cut it if you’re against another aggro deck as our strat is to go bigger). The 1 point of reach is relevant, the 2nd chapter creature buff is relevant, the 2/2 haste-r is relevant, and the exile clause is a cherry on top against a few things in the format that either re-cur or have an “on death” effect. This card does everything that an aggro deck wants to be doing. Simply an insane one drop that I’m surprised I haven’t seen more of in ladder/tournament. You need to identify the decks that you’re trying to get under, and those that you’re playing to go bigger than appropriately. Despite being aggressive, this is a midrange deck. The barrage of haste makes sorcery speed removal/sweepers not as effective against our threats. The untapped is here:ĭue to its aggressive barrage of haste threats and resilience going into the mid/late game, I think this deck can work very well to swing aggro decks back into the format.ġ Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance (NEO) 276īeat opponent down with non-stop haste creatures. Notably I went 11-5 against Esper, 9-1 against Izzet/Jeskai, and pretty well against other decks in the format. Today I completed my mythic grind (had to start at silver because of my break :D) with a 61% win-rate record of 50-32.

This is a proper mid-range red deck that has a very solid gameplan and some nice resilience.

I've found this deck quite good, able to handily beat any of the meta decks and not very weak to most tools that you would think hose aggro, such as Meathook Massacre. I found the core of this list while watching MTG limited streamer Dafore play constructed and tried it for myself. Came back from a long break and wanted to find an aggressive deck to play against the field of grindy mid-range decks going around.
